A day out to Bournemouth to experience a ‘Walk, Wok and Waves’ themed day out was enjoyed by 14 people from the Crondall Women’s Institute in Hampshire this May. Secretary of the branch, Barbara Wilson, booked the itinerary through leading Bournemouth tour guide John Walker, who accompanied the group throughout the day. “He was very informative,” says Barbara.

The group enjoyed a guided walk around the town followed by a Chinese meal and a boat trip with Dorset Belles. Says Barbara, “We found the walking tour extremely interesting and we learnt how Bournemouth became a town and the various people of note who had lived, been born or died there. Although the walk was an hour and a half it was not very strenuous and we easily managed it. The Chinese meal at the Red Panda was two courses and excellent. Two of our members are celiacs and the staff were very helpful and accommodating. The cruise along the Jurassic Coast to Swanage was a wonderful way to round off the day.”

The general reaction from everyone afterwards was that the day out was well worth the effort. “I would certainly recommend ‘Walk, Wok and Waves’ to any other group,” states Barbara. “Even the weather behaved itself!”
