Drama for the disabled
I am a GTO for the Disabled Adventure Club and recently went to see ‘Wicked’ at the Apollo Victoria, in London.
I thought the theatre was fantastic for wheelchairs. My power chair fitted on the lift and the staff were extremely helpful. There is a very good disabled toilet too and we had an excellent view of the stage. It was the first time I have been up in the balcony. I enjoyed the show immensely and the scenery was fantastic.
My guest and I stayed overnight at the Copthorne Tara Hotel, in Kensington, which is the only hotel I know with wheelchair rooms and free parking. As I belong to Holiday Care, I also got a discount on the rooms.
I was very impressed with the buses in London. I managed to get to the theatre and back with no problems and even went shopping the next day.
Does anyone know if there are any more theatres in London which are wheelchair accessible? I would be interested to find out.
